About Eckert
Our History
From humble beginnings, Eckert has become the leader in the IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) pepper processing industry. Lee Eckert started the company in 1936 as Eckert-Etienne Engineering Corp., of San Francisco, California, installing refrigeration equipment for breweries. Over time, the company evolved into Eckert Cold Storage and processing peppers became our primary business.
Today, we are focused on IQF processing of bell peppers, roasted peppers, jalapenos, poblanos, and cabbage. We are the largest supplier of IQF bell peppers in U.S.A. Based out of Escalon, California in the heart of the fertile San Joaquin Valley, we are still family owned and operated. You can find our peppers in retail products such as stuffed pepper cups, pizza toppings, soups, and salsas for some of the largest food companies in the world.
Our commitment
Eckert sources high-quality, non-GMO fruit along a safe, reliable supply chain. Flash-frozen in one of three strategically located processing plants in the U.S.A. and Mexico to enhance freshness, our finished product ensures the best flavor, texture and nutritional value. While “fresh” produce can spend up to a month in the supply chain, Eckert’s IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) process locks in freshness as close to the point of harvest as possible.
Our capabilities
Choosing the best quality fruit from a diversified list of growers, Eckert offers its individually quick-frozen peppers in a wide variety of cuts from diced to sliced, both conventionally and organic. We also offer roasted peppers.
We are the only IQF pepper company that owns our processing plants in both Mexico and the U.S.A. This contra-seasonal production capability allows us to turn product quicker and gives our customers more flexibility in managing their inventory.
