Summary:

Works with agricultural produce such as vegetables.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include the following (Other duties may be assigned).

  • Segregates produce on conveyor belt or table according to grade, color, and size.
  • Discards cull (inferior or defective) items and foreign matter.
  • Fills pepper machines with raw product.
  • Remove cores from raw product on the popping line.
  • Sorts raw product into size and color classifications.
  • Responsible for product safety, legality, regulatory compliance and product quality.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words, and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills:

No skills needed.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

None required.

Other Qualifications:

Seasonal work. Employee must be available to work any shift, 7 days a week during production season. Overtime is probable.
