Summary: Supervises and coordinates plant sanitation program with the sanitation team to ensure the plant operates within good manufacturing practices that comply with federal, state and Company standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):
- Supervise and coordinate all sanitation activities including scheduling, equipment ATP testing, data interpretation, and corrective action as needed
- Train all permanent and temporary employees
- Conduct employee performance adherence to SSOP’s and motivating and disciplining employees to reach their maximum potential
- Coordinate sanitation activities with production, maintenance, and quality control management to obtain optimum sanitation and utilization of human resources, equipment availability for production, and support post maintenance activities.
- Adhere to developed cleaning methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems, improve sanitation efficiency, and improve product quality
- Ensure document completion, review, store, and compile sanitation data assuring audit readiness at all times
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
- Assist in the review of GMP rules and enforcement as well as all safety rules
- Collects environmental swabs and documents results then directs sanitation crew based on the report
- Monitors cleaning procedures, chemical usage and chemical safety
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages employees in the Sanitation department including the sanitation lead employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Sanitation Supervisor or equivalent role, preferably in food manufacturing. Understanding of GMP, BRC, HACCP, Sanitation, practices/auditing, allergen control programs, quality programs.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization (English and Spanish preferred).
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be forklift certified or ability to be certified
Other Qualifications: Individual must be available to work daily overtime hours, weekends and holidays if business needs require.
